The Build Process
Stage 1 | Get in touch
Following your initial enquiry, Urban Edge SA will request you completed a short questionnaire to see what your requirements are such as, Custom Designs, Renovations or Subdivision and Development; we can assist with all.
Once we understand your requirements we will then book in an Initial Consultation
Stage Step 2 | Initial consultation
During this face-to-face meeting with Urban Edge SA, we will discuss what you are looking for in your new home or renovation in more specific detail.
We will ask questions to help assist with creating your dream home or investment, such as:
- Your block and budget
- Your requirements: such as how many bedrooms and bathrooms you need
- Your wish list: including the types of finishes (fixtures and fittings) you would like.
Once we have explored what your priorities are and ensured the wish list aligns with the budget, we will start the next stage, Proposal and Design.
Stage 3 | Proposal and Deign meeting
We will put together a price and inclusions proposal once agreed upon we will start to put together the images and ideas in your head and present a floorplan and design incorporating all the elements from your brief and budget. We will work with you through the design process to fine tune your plan it until it is exactly what you had in mind.
Once the proposal and plans have been finalised, you will sign your Build Contract and pay the agreed deposit. Now we can get into the pre-construction stage, Relevant Approvals and Selections.
Stage 4 | Approvals and selections
We handle the entire approval process for you. We complete the required documentation and submit it to your local council to finalise the working drawings, obtain building approval and final development approval (DA). If council has any queries, we work with them on your behalf.
During this time, we will bring you through the show room where our friendly team with assist you make the final selections for the fit-out of your home such, colours, joinery, tiling, appliances, flooring and more.
Once Council has Granted the approvals and your selections are finalised and signed, we can move on to the most exciting part Construction.
Stage 6 | Commence construction
Trades are booked, your purchase orders are being sent off and our senior site manager is supervising the construction of your home through the whole process to ensure that it is being built exactly to plans and Australian standards/code. Our customer service team will stay in touch keeping you updated on a monthly basis with any progress right up until the next stage, handover of the home. Scheduled site visits are available to keep you in touch with your new home at various stages along the journey.
Stage 7 | Handover
Construction is complete! Our Customer Service Team will arrange the client walk through approximately two weeks out from handover where you can view the home to ensure your home is ready to move in and the bank valuations can be competed.
Once the appliances and hot water services is installed and your final funds are paid our team will meet you on site to officially hand over the keys and welcome you to your brand-new home. We will give you a pack containing all your warranties, certificates of compliance and a small gesture of our appreciation for trusting Urban Edge SA to build your dreams. We are still here to assist with any maintenance issues and have a 3 month maintenance warranty as well as the 5 year statutory warranty.
Stage 8 | 3 Month Maintenance Period
As part of our continued service and to meet statutory obligations, we offer a 3-month maintenance period after practical completion. This 3-month period will commence on the date the home is handed over to you. At approximately 3 months from the date of handover, you are required to complete the 3-month maintenance form provided in the handover pack. Once received we can arrange a mutually convenient time to return and rectify any items that we might have missed such as door adjustments and minor touch ups etc.
